Copper exports surged in May, Chile's trade surplus widened to 1.3 billion U.S. dollars

The Central Bank of Chile reported on Monday that due to the surge in its copper exports, Chile’s trade surplus in May was US$1.314 billion.

As the price of red metal soared to a record high, copper shipments in May increased by 70% year-on-year to US$4.967 billion.

In May, the total exports of this South American country reached 7.920 billion U.S. dollars, while the total imports were 6.606 billion U.S. dollars.
